Removal and Reinstallation of Solar

When consulting with a homeowner who is considering solar, we always have a conversation about the shape of their roof.  If the roof has a reasonable lifespan left, we install the solar and usually only have to address minor problems with the roof.  If the roof is due for a replacement, we recommend doing the roof and solar at the same time.

However, we often get inquiries from someone who has had solar for a while and needs a new roof.  They are looking for someone to remove and reinstall the solar.  That’s “remove” and “reinstall” is called and R&R.  Since we are licensed roofing contractors, we can provide the new roof with the R&R.  Or sometimes we work with another roofer to make sure the solar assets are protected and done correctly during the R&R.

When we provide a quote for the removal and reinstallation (R&R) of a solar system, our pricing reflects a thorough and professional process. As a fully licensed Electrical, Roofing, and General Contractor, we take great care to ensure your system is handled correctly from start to finish.

Here’s what sets our R&R service apart:

  • System Testing & Inspection: Before removal, we test your solar system to ensure it is performing properly and identify any issues that may need addressing.
  • Professional Labor: Your system is removed and reinstalled by highly trained electricians and roofers—not subcontractors—ensuring quality workmanship. Our in-house Customer Service Division manages the entire process, providing oversight and clear communication throughout.
  • New Hardware: When we reinstall your system, we replace all mounting hardware, conduit, wiring, rails, and clips—only the panels are reused. Everything else is brand new and installed to current code and torqued to manufacturer specifications to maintain warranty integrity.
  • Final Testing: After reinstallation, we re-test the entire system to confirm performance so you get the most out of your investment.

We believe in doing things the right way, not the cheapest way—and we’re always happy to walk you through a line-item breakdown or answer any questions.
